Audio Station/DS audio: it can stream direct to UPnP/DLNA speaker and Airplay (hey even my Airplay 2 Apple TVs are working again when PIN access is enabled), plus Casting.

I created new custom directories as Private because that was the only way I could setup permissions to limit directories in the DS Video application to be viewed externally however, it conflicts with the Roku settings and I am still working on a solution. For all of the standard directories that are delivered, they don't have a setting for Private, and so they should already work. So far for me, only the ones set up as "Public" show up on the Roku. In Video Station, there are permissions (public & private) that can be set up for custom directories, in case you create them. When I checked this, the media was deemed incompatible and the media did not show up. In Media Server, there's also another setting to pay attention to: D MA Compatability -> Don't not check "Enable Video Transcoding". To get that to work, however, you also need to activate a setting in Media Server: Browsing Settings -> Check the box "Integrate Video Station database into Media Server".

I have 3 different types of Roku, and it worked for all of them with MKV files (H264) and MP4 files. Just recently purchased a Synology NAS DS218+ and was able to successfully connect it to the Roku with Roku Media Player.

I'm hoping another Synology user using the Synology Media Player can chime in. It's possible that this is a Synology issue (permissions?). I found an older thread (~ year old) here that was similar: I may not know all the details, but I figure it out and get there. I may struggle a little at first, but usually work my way thru things and get it to work.
